Sewer Line Repair
Because there are so many different types of sewer line problems, Roto-Rooter offers several repair methods that can adjust to the multiple issues.
Reasons Sewer Line Repairs Are Needed In California
The pipelines in the California region are particularly susceptible to problems due to the shifting soil and earthquakes found in the area. Because of this, it is common for sewer and drain pipes to experience problems and need fast repairs. We offer our sewer line solution services in response to a variety of problems that we encounter in residential pipeline sewer systems, including:
- Broken, cracked, offset or collapsed pipeline
- Blockage
- Corrosion
- Bellied pipe
- Leaking joints
- Root infiltration
- Off-grade pipe
- Tree roots
How To Diagnose The Problem In Residential Sewer Pipes
Roto-Rooter technicians and plumbers are fully trained in the use of state-of-the-art equipment and technologies to solve all of your sewer line services, including sewer repair. If we find that the pipes are extremely corroded and broken down, we will recommend replacing the sewer lines without property damage. At Roto-Rooter, our trenchless repair causes less damage than traditional sewer line repair methods. We offer two trenchless pipe repair solutions to these problems with less environmental impact.
Our cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) method doesn’t require extensive digging and creating trenches just to make the pipe available to the technicians. Instead, a small access point is created and is no longer than three feet. Then the sewer line is cleaned and the access debris is removed, which can restore the water flow back to normal. It also allows the epoxy resin to adhere to a smooth surface. The epoxy is inserted into the pipe via an inflatable tube which, when expanded, forces the epoxy up against the interior of the pipe. The pressure of the tube helps the epoxy keep the shape of the sewer pipe and helps to fill in any cracks or leaks. Within 24 hours, the epoxy hardens and becomes the new pipe within the old.
However, the original pipe needs to be strong enough and in decent condition to give the epoxy a good base. If it isn’t, then pipe bursting could be a better option. This needs two access points instead of one at both ends of the pipe. At one end, a hydraulic or cable pulley system will be set up. The other access point allows for the bursting head and new pipe to be inserted. This burst head is slightly larger than the original pipe, which allows it to be split open as the head is pulled through. It is also tapered to allow for even splitting. This head is attached to the new pipe, so as the head is pulled through, the new pipe fills in the space of the original. Once positioned, the head is removed and the pipe is connected to the sewer system.
If it turns out that an entire replacement is not needed, pipe lining may be a good option for a simple spot fix. The process is very similar to the CIPP method, as it uses the epoxy resin. The video inspection and cleaning process are also included. But there is no need to go through the entire process of replacing the pipe if a small crack just needs to be filled and smoothed over.
